This is the Charuto (cigar), an heavy fuel oil tank car. It was built at the E.F. Perus-Pirapora maintenance works and was used to transport fuel for the steam locomotives. It was named after its peculiar shape, very adequate considerating the high viscosity of this kind of fuel oil. This photo was shot in July 1994 by Kelso Médici, from São Paulo SP, who kindly sent a copy to the E.F. Brasil, an electronic list about the Brazilian railroads.
