An diesel-electric ALCO PA-1 locomotive with the beautiful livery of the Delaware and Hudson railroad... Similar units were used also in the Companhia Paulista de Estradas de Ferro. However, similar diesel-electric streamlined locomotives were relatively rare in Brazil. Perhaps this is due to the fact that most of the railroad dieselization effort in Brazil occurred somewhat late, after 1945 and mainly during the fifties, when such design of locomotive was outdated. The original copy of this photo is at the Railroading in the North East; the indication was courtesy of Marcello Talamo, from São Paulo SP.
