The Alpha and the Omega in Paratinga: an old EMD G-12 diesel-electric locomotive, originally purchased by Companhia Paulista de Estradas de Ferro but now with the red-and-white second livery of Ferrovias Paulistas S.A., side by side with a blue-and-yellow G.E. C-36-7 from MRS Logistica. The old G12 was being used in Paratinga as a humble switcher, while the C-36-7, rented to Ferronorte, is used as a helper locomotive during the rough ride up the hill towards Mayrink. By the way, this C-36-7 was purchased second hand from the American railroad Union Pacific. Photo shot in October 19, 2002 by Antonio Augusto Gorni, from São Vicente SP.
