LT&L eco-644/80exf #1776 in tricolour paint

The LT&L ordered a large fistful of locomotives from ILW in the summer of 2026 as part of the slowly ongoing integration of dispatching trains in the newly formed United Railways Trust, and as part of that order sampled 10 of ILW’s experimental 5100HP heavy freight locomotives.

The eco-644/80exf uses some high performance tuning available for the Cummins QSK95 that increases it from 4400 to 5100 HP. This tuning encreases the cooling required, so ILW provided the locomotives in a fully cowled (with Draper Taper) carbody to give a little more space for the expanded radiator.

These units are currently operating on the LT&L/CPR/KCS/KCSM doubly international route from Cuidad de México to the Maritime provinces.
