In 2010, the LT&L decided to electrify the gap between the existing 3kvdc wires at Québec and Brownsville Junction, and that meant they’d need to order new motors to operate on this line.
ILW was chosen to build the carbodies for the units, and this time they were built with Draper Taper-style notches behind the cabs (like the existing commuter & dual-power units that ILW had been producing for a few decades)
The K6s started coming out of St Jean in April 2011, all sent up to Québec as power for the new electrification.
