In 2026, the LT&L had the Derby Shops cut down ten of their pile of retired GP38s into low-profile (aka “loaf of bread on a sled”) slugs. Like the previous SLG3s, these units are rated at 2000 (parasitic) HP.
Five of these units have been assigned to yard switcher duties on the LT&L & TdM’s electrified yards, the other five are operating on the LT&L’s newly acquired Montréal to Toronto mainline.
