P&W #1106 (ex 2201) in red & white

When the P&W was taken into the PV&T’s system, it came with a ridiculous number of slightly different locomotives, and after some existential despair the motive power department classified them off into their own little cubbyhole instead of filling the standard DLxx classification with many MANY single-engine classes

This is the classification scheme that was devised for all of the slightly different P&W Bs & Cs; PWDExx – all the GE B38s are in one class regardless of their exact specifications, ditto for the B39s, B40s, C40s, and the EMD SD70s.

All of these engines (except for B23-7 # 1106, which is reserved for the Railroad Museum of New England) were off the roster by 2013, replaced by a mix of ILW DP2’s and ALCO RS-11s
