In 1952 The Budd Company, from U.S.A., delivered to E.F. Sorocabana several units of stainless steel passenger cars. They were more simpler than the renowned luxury Budd-Mafersa cars that were delivered to São Paulo state owned railroads like the own E.F. Sorocabana, E.F. Araraquara and Companhia Mogiana de Estradas de Ferro during 1963/1967. They were not equipped with air conditioning equipment. These cars were known as Série 500 or Luxo Antigo (Old Luxury) by E.F. Sorocabana employees. During the early eighties some of these cars were adapted to run in the wide gauge lines of the former Companhia Paulista/E.F. Araraquara. This photo shows a restaurant car with wide gauge trucks. This photo was shot by Cid José Beraldo, who kindly sent a copy to this Album. The info was kindly supplied by Maurício Torres, from Miami, U.S.A.
