Schematic drawing of the G.M.-E.M.D. 3,000 HP diesel-electric locomotive SD-40T-2 or "Tunnel Motor". This specific version of SD-40 locomotive is suitable for use at high-altitudes and superheated tunnels. Although no unit of this specific version is used in Brazil, it apparently is a good option to the Ferrovia do Aço! This drawing was originally published in the 1984 edition of the Car and Locomotive Cyclopedia; this copy was kindly sent to the E.F. Brasil site by Hermes Yoiti Hinuy, from São Paulo SP. Additional thanks for loco info are also due to Angelo Zaccagnino.
