A Budd-Mafersa stainless steel electric passenger train, built in Brazil, beginning to step down the Serra do Mar at Paranapiacaba. These units, delivered in early seventies, should replace the English Electric Gualixo trains. At that time, E.F. Santos a Jundiaí claimed that it was the only railroad all over the world to have 100% stainless steel passenger rolling stock... After the E.F. Santos a Jundiaí privatization intercity passenger service ended and these electric multiple units were abandoned - and eventually destroyed. This photo was shot by Carlos Roberto Brandão, from Osasco SP, probably during the early eighties; he kindly sent a copy to these pages.
