a newly streamlined 218 -- the only class BCC2 -- just delivered from Iberville

218 was the second class B1 that was rebuilt with Canadian cabs, but it was rebuilt in St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu instead of Portland, because ILW had an empty slot in their locomotive building schedule and Portland was backed up doing scheduled maintenance on other motors.

So it was fitted with a cab like the ones on the rsx-637f’s that were built for VIA a few years previous – that plus reconfiguring the electrical components and replacing all the trucks with class E-style plate trucks made for a somewhat different looking streamlined locomotive.
