When the Ottawa Valley Railway was merged into the Parsons Vale system, it came with a bunch of EMD power, most of which fit into the existing locomotive classification. A few pieces of power couldn’t be properly fit, so – just as was done with the Providence & Worcester – they were tossed into a catchall classification barrel until the day came when they would be retired or remanufactured.
