The first class DL40s arrived on the railroad after the P&W merger (when they were placed into one of the P&W temporary classes), but were soon off the roster. The second batch came with the merger with Groupe I&M, at which point the motive power department gave a deep sigh and made an actual class for them (before then trading them in for newer eco-644s)
