TdM BLWRS #446 in orange & green

Number 446, a BLWRS/BLW251/BRS11 (depending on who was talking about it) rebuild, started out as MTRR #1002 – one of the two VO-660s that the Plaster Hills & Western purchased in 1955 on their first attempt to dieselize, and which the TdM traded back – after the main generator failed – for recently retired consolidation #303. It came back as scrap, so never got a PV&T road # and sat on the salvage parts track at St-Jean-Sur-Richelieu for 6 years until it was picked out to see if it could be used as a base for a complete rebuild.

The AAR A trucks were replaced with AAR B trucks, the now too big fuel tank was replaced by a smaller one, the prime mover was replaced with a 251-12, and the hood was replaced with a shop-fabricated one.

Updating from 700 HP to 1800 meant that without a steady hand at the controls the thing would spin as if it was on ice, so it found itself semi-permanantly mated to sluggified RS-2 #376, but aside from that it was a lovely reliable unit which showed that the TdM shops was capable of more than just reengining RS-2s.
