The Chemin de Fer co-propriétaire Newport-Sud is a paper railway that was set up to control the NSJL’s line into Québec after the LT&L leased their Newport subdivision to the NSJL during the United Railway Trust merger.
It exists as a mailbox to handle Québec railway taxes and is operated by the same VRS dispatchers who operate the rest of the NSJL.
